Math Workshop

Math Workshop involves limited direct instruction from the teacher, with the majority of class time going to individualize student learning (similar to Readers Workshop).  Math Workshop is premised on the idea that children working in small groups with math at their level, provides powerful possibilities for reaching all children and maximizing their growth.  At Math stations groups, students engage in standards-based, rigorous, engaging meaning making learning opportunities.  Teachers facilitate this individualized learning through hands-on, scaffolded conversations and intensive questioning, as well as through guided math small groups.
